The wall came tumbling down

I was praying for someone and asking God to pull down the strongholds in his life and the Holy Spirit immediately brought to my mind the scriptures on how the wall of Jericho came down. God gave the Israelites specific instructions of what to do for the wall to come down and when they followed God's instructions, instantly the wall was removed. The wall of Jericho was the stronghold that protected Jericho. Archaeological evidence states that the wall was 6' wide and about 13 to 15 feet high. Although the wall surrounded the whole City and was very strong, God brought it down in an instant as the Israelites shouted in worship at God's command.

I would encourage you to read Joshua Chapter 6. God instructed the priests to blow the trumpets that they were carrying. This is a picture of worship. It was worship that brought the wall down and then the armed guards (those trained for battle) who walked before the worshippers were able to enter the City first and take the land.

Today, under the New Covenant of Grace, Jesus went to the cross and He made a way for us to be set free from strongholds in our lives.

What is a stronghold? A biblical meaning can be a deceptive mindset or a pattern of sin in a person's life or it can be sickness or even lack of any kind.

Worship was a very big part of the Israelites' victory. Today, worship is still a big part of us seeing strongholds come down in our lives. We have also been given the Word of God which is alive and actively fighting on our behalf. Our part is to believe God's Word even when our circumstances are saying the opposite. Because the Israelites believed God's Word, even though Jericho looked too strong for them to conquer, they did what He said to do and the stronghold came down and they went in and took the land. Today, we worship Jesus for who He is and what He has done for us in His redemptive work. He has already made a way for us to walk in victory. We listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit giving us instructions in the Word and as we believe the Word we will do the Word and strongholds in our lives will come down too.
